Sonja Gillett

Sonja began her career at Art School in 1956, spending four years studying art, design fashion and illustration.

She spent a year at the Traphagen School of Fashion, New York and later, after a year in London attending lectures and work experience, Sonja worked in fashion illustration and design before marrying and starting a family.

From 1974-78, Sonja studied Fine Art and Portraiture with Lee Molineux. She has worked on various art commissions, including the design of the stained glass window in the BBC School Chapel. Recently Sonja has concentrated on portraiture in oils or pastels. She continues to try fresh and varied techniques, experimenting with new media, has successfully competed in art competitions and shown her work in many exhibitions over the years.

Living locally, Sonja has had the advantage of exchanging ideas with fellow artists in a creative environment.
