Born in Sydney in 1940, Philippa, as a student, was always drawing and daydreaming, especially during maths and science! She studied art at the Royal Malta Academy where her teacher was intolerant of modern art.
After a working life spent nursing in many foreign countries, Philippa chose to take up watercolour painting, for its wonderful atmospheric luminosity and ease of carrying materials around the world.
For four years she took lessons with Tony Lewis and a further two years with Madeleine Herbert. The artists she most admires are the impressionists, especially Monet.
Now she continues to strive to capture the magic of the landscape in her paintings and to share this expression of her joy with other people.
